Session Descriptions
Opening to Evolutionary Awakening
We'll trace a potential journey of awakening from:
A rational and conceptual understanding of Nature and ongoing evolution, to
A felt sense of participation in real-time cosmogenesis, and
A new kind of individual and shared identity as inspired evolutionary beings living in a strangely mythic age
Psychospiritually Whole
How does awakening relate to wholeness and inner development?
I'll be sharing a couple complementary nature-based frameworks for psychospiritual wholeness that I use to help myself and others orient with respect to our inner lives and our personal growth and development. It's based on the work of depth ecopsychologist Bill Plotkin, especially his books Wild Mind, and Nature and the Human Soul.
re: Living the Dream
What if every time you dozed off, some supremely sublime form of creative genius crafted the perfect gift for you, tailored to this particular moment of your unfolding path toward wholeness? Bring a dream if you like, old or new, to this experiential introduction to soulcentric dream tending.
Reciprocal Vision
This will be a brief intro to a form of body-mind concentration -- a little known mythosomatic imaginal practice, Eidetic Imaging.
It's a core human capacity that bears varied gifts for accessing hidden dimensions of our vitality, often in the form of images from childhood, myth, or Nature. It's also a wonderful way to connect with others -- a more multidimensional alternative to normal conversation and talking 'about' things from a distance.
This form of body-mind concentration was developed by Dr. Akhter Ahsen in the 1960s, and provides the basis for Eidetic Image Psychology and other branches of somatic healing and embodied spirituality. I've been studying this form of concentration with one of Dr. Ahsen's students, Janet K Bloom, for the past four years.
Greeting Wild Mystery
You're invited to partake in what can be considered an evolutionary ritual, or a spiritually inspired participatory poem. Enter a portal of awakening to the enchantment that encompasses and links this present moment and the infinite, everflowing waters, the living breathing planet, the sparkling Cosmos, you, and me.
Ecosomatic Dimensions of Belonging
What practices can enable us to develop an unshakeable sense of belonging, and of being held -- foundational for an embodied and earthly spirituality? How can we open our senses and our hearts to know greater intimacy, to let love in, to feel reverence, to clearly behold the living miracle, and know we are inseparable from it all?
Sacred Hudson Valley
What makes one place seem more sacred than another? How can we resacralize the landscape, or the bioregion, that we inhabit together? How can our mythopoetic unfolding be intertwined with that of the bioregion? Can we weave a web of sacred places together, contributing to an emergent sense of local culture rooted in reverence and deep relationality between the human and more than human?
Got Synchronicity?
This space is offered for those who have had one or more synchronistic, ineffable, or awe-inspiring experiences that may somehow seem to have lasting importance. These experiences may be from the dream world, the waking world, on a medicine journey, or in a state of liminal consciousness that defies this world or that world. Mainstream society may tend to shrug such things off as irrelevant curiosities, but what if they hold treasures not to be discounted or forgotten? What if such experiences are
Integrating: From Experience to Transformation
As we near the end of the Festival of Awakening, what's moving you? What wants to be lingered with, listened to, and perhaps kept alive in the days ahead and beyond? This will include a short imaginal practice, a chance to share, and some suggestions for continued engagement.
